Can a sole trader get a UK grant?
Sometimes. Some schemes want a limited company, some accept a sole trader, and some want a charity or a community group. The legal form is in the eligibility, not in the headline. A sole trader should still start with the postcode, then reject any scheme whose rules say limited company, registered charity, or a minimum headcount you do not have.

Are startup grants still open?
Named startup funds open and close. Do not trust a blog that says a 2023 startup grant is still paying out. Check the deadline on the funder page.
Does Every Grant require a company number?
No. The check does not need Companies House. A competition that wants a company number will say so in its own rules.

If you want the application written, the fee is fixed and shown before you pay: £450, £850, £1,450 or £2,200, set by the size of the award. Every Grant does not take a percentage of the grant, does not file the form, and is not part of GOV.UK. Confirm every scheme on the funder's own site.
