What grants can a builder or tradesperson get?

A building firm should look at two different things. CITB grants, if you are registered, contribute to training in Great Britain. Separate schemes sometimes help with retrofit skills and kit. Neither pays for a general van, a yard, or last month's materials. Domestic energy schemes such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme are claimed by the certified installer under that scheme's rules, not as a business-development grant.

Does a sole trader chippy qualify?

For CITB, only if you are in scope and registered. For a retrofit scheme, only if the brief includes a firm of your size in that nation. Check both pages.
