Can a new business get a UK grant?

Sometimes, but a brand-new business is a poor fit for most capital grants. Many schemes want you to be trading, to have accounts, or to show you can pay the match. A company number is not a grant. Check the postcode and read who the scheme is written for before you spend a week on the form.

Is a Start Up Loan a grant?

No. A Start Up Loan is a loan, with interest and a repayment date. It is not free money. The British Business Bank publishes the current terms. Do not list it as a grant in an application.

What can a new firm realistically read?

Local growth-hub advice, which is often free and not a grant, and any competition whose brief allows a young company. Innovate UK rounds set their own age and accounts rules. Read that brief, not a general startup list.

Will Find Grants invent a startup grant?

No. If it is not in the catalogue, it is not named. A page that promises a grant for every new business is not this one.
