Can a grant pay wages?

Only if that scheme says staff costs are eligible, and only for the people and the period it names. A capital scheme for equipment will not pay the owner's drawings. A youth-employment scheme may pay an employer for a qualifying job, in stages, if the person and the hours meet the rules. Your existing payroll is not a grant.

Can I pay myself?

Some programme grants allow a project worker's time at a published rate. Many small capital grants do not. If the guidance is silent, assume no, and ask the funder before you rely on it.
